BOOK BLOGGER BLIND DATE | Featuring Beth from ReadingEveryNight!

Hi everyone, happy Tuesday!  Many moons ago, the lovely Jillian @ Rant And Rave About Books created a fun bookish meme where we were “set up” with another book blogger who had similar tastes and were in different countries (see original post here).  I was fortunate enough to get paired with the absolutely charming Beth from Reading Every Night.  Since she’s across the pond in England, we did have some time difference delays but it all worked out remarkably well!

Beth is a book blogger that I’ve admired for quite awhile.  She is such active, kind, and supportive member in this book blogging community.  In fact, several months ago I made a Blogger Appreciation post and she was one of the bloggers I had included and many people agreed with me in the comments.  She’s an absolute treasure and it was such a privilege and an amazing experience getting to know her.

We decided to play “Would You Rather“, which consisted of us going back and forth with multiple scenarios – both book and non book related.  She definitely made me laugh multiple times and cringe at some of her tough questions.  In my post, the focus is all on her answers.  So if you’d like to see how it went, read on!

(PS SORRY WEIRD FORMATTING GUYS, MY WORDPRESS IS EXPLODING, I’LL REVISE WHEN IT’S NOT)

QUESTION 1:  Would you prefer an epic romance with your favorite fictional character or an epic adventure?  IF you choose a character, who?

Beth: Oh my god asking me to choose my favourite character! How to even begin?!

Well OK, it would definitely be the Rampion crew from The Lunar Chronicles, and if I had to choose only one it would be Carswell Thorne.

I’d definitely say epic adventure as well. Thorne has a spaceship and he’ll always have some kind of wild scheme up his sleeve so it would be so much fun to be part of one of those. I’d probably end up getting arrested or something when it all goes wrong but I’d hope Thorne would have some kind of escape plan in place! 😀

QUESTION 2: Would you rather read 100 extremely cringeworthy/tacky romance scenes in a row or 100 extremely sad scenes?  (A scene can be from a paragraph to an entire chapter).

Beth: This question really made me think, because if sad scenes are written well they can be really amazing to read, but I think 100 is a little too many, I’d just be a mess of tears by the end. So I’m gonna go with the tacky romance scenes, after all I am a romantic person at heart 🙂

QUESTION 3:  I feel like you’ve read Maria V Snyder’s Poison Study series, so choose which scenario you’d rather participate in:

You’re Yelena and Janco tells you he has started his own brewing company and wants you to try out several “tested” brews.  How do you think it’s go?  Do you trust him?  Remember, he could totally be pranking you and you could very well end up with a hairy chest or something.
OR
Celaena from (Throne of Glass series) just stormed back to her apartment, angry, and has decided to use you for knife throwing practice.  She’ll likely tie you up on one of those medieval spinning circle things and see how close she can get the knives to your body.  Oh, she’s also drunk. Oh, she also just had a big fight with Rowan.
Beth: I have read the Poison Study series, it’s one of my favourites as well (I feel like I say that about a lot of books but in reality I do have a LOT of favourite series!)

I’d also definitely have to choose the Janco situation as well. As hairy as his potions may be hopefully they won’t kill me. And I wouldn’t want to cross Celaena on a good day, let alone one where she’s drunk, angry and pissed off at Ronan. I wouldn’t last five seconds against her. The way I see it I’ve got more chance surviving Janco than I have Celaena.
QUESTION 4: Non-book related: would you rather sponge bath an old man (who you didn’t know) or clean up horse poop in a stable.
Beth: Definitely the horse poop (and there’a sentance I never though I’d say in my lifetime!) I used to ride horses when I was youjnger so I feel cleaning horse poop from the stables would be something I’d have had to do anyway if I’d have carried on. Plus I’m a bit wary of touching people I don’t know really well.
QUESTION 5: Would you rather find out magic is real (and you can use it!) or have a super power?
Beth: Definitely that magic was real. In my mind magic being real opens up so many more possiblities; are dragons real also, and all the fairytale creatures that you think of when you think magic, I don’t know byt that possibility would be there. Also there’s so much more you could do with magic than with a superpower. Peter Parker has the abilities of a spider but in comparison Harry Potter can do so much more.
QUESTION 6: Would you rather live somewhere you didn’t speak the language forever (but could visit anywhere) or be completely banned from being in the UK?
Beth:  Ohh, this is a tough one, but I think I’m gonna have to go with live somewhere you didn’t speak the language forever (but could visit anywhere). My love of travelling is too deep-set and I think there are definite ways around the language barrier I could work with. Plus my family could come and visit me so it’s not like I’d never see them by leaving the UK either. Win, win situation! 😀
QUESTION 7: Would you rather have an hour long talk with V Schwab or get free books by her for the rest of your life?
Beth: I’m gonna say an hour talk with V.E. Schwab. I think that would be amazing because I’d have so many questions I’d want to ask about her writing and her books; and, well, I’d still be able to buy her books wouldn’t I?

She’s actually going to be at YALC next weekend which I am going to, and she has a couple of panels which I am definitely going to go to so this question is pretty much a real life scenario! I’m going to go to an hours talk with V.E. Schwab and obviously I’m going to buy all her books for the rest of my life 😀
QUESTION 8: Would you rather bring back a character from “book death” or kill off your most hated character.  If you choose to bring someone back, who and why? (SPOILER WARNING: RAVEN CYCLE SERIES)
Beth: I would definitely choose to bring a character back from the death, as to who there are so so many I would want to pick, so much death in YA fantasy/dystopian books, but I’d have to go with…

Fair warning; if you haven’t read The Raven Cycle series and plan to this will contain spoilers!!!
…Noah from The Raven Cycle series. His death was just so tragic and after being trapped in a loop as a ghost I think he’d really make the most of a second chance. He definitely deserves one, and deserves much more than he got in the book. There are two other characters; one from Cinder and one from Nevernight who would be my second and third picks if I got them 🙂
QUESTION 9: Would you rather enter a dark cave to slay a dragon or fight an evil witch who eats children. 🙂
Beth: Given that I’m not a child anymore I would definitely choose to fight a witch who eats children rather than the dragon in a dark cave. I feel I’d have a much better chance at survival that way!
QUESTION 10: Would you rather walk through the desert for two days without water or fly to Mars?
Beth: I’d be able to return if I flew to Mars right? Either way I think my answer has to be fly to Mars, my inner adventurer cannot be turned from biggest adventure of the two!
QUESTION 11: Would you rather live in an area where it only had daylight or in a place where it was only night?
Beth: I am a massive night owl so I’m going to have to say somewhere it’s always night. There’s just something about nighttime that so peaceful you know! Plus I always get too hot and uncomfortable in the summer so let’s get rid of that altogether! 😀
QUESTION 12: Would you rather never need sleep or never have to drink water? 😉
Beth: Never have to drink water. As you can probably tell I’m not a massive fan of water, I already don’t drink enough of it, and I don’t think there’s any way I would ever give up sleep!
QUESTION 13: Would you rather have 10 kids or 10 cats? 🙂
Beth: I don’t ever see myself having kids so I’m going to go with 10 cats. They’ve got to be easier to take care of, and I have a bad habit of killing even potted plants so cats would have a much better chance of surviving under my care.
QUESTION 14: (Since I’ve begun to read ADSOM by Schwab), would you rather: face Holland while he’s trying to extract information from you (that you don’t have, by the way) OR would you rather face the twins of the White Castle after disrespecting them and not bowing? (SEMI-SPOILERY)
Beth: I would have to go with facing Holland while he’s trying to extract information I don’t have. Granted Holland is a very scary person but the White Twins are even more terrifying. Also I’m 99% sure that what they did to the person who disrespected them in the book by not bowing (I think you must have gotten to that part at least) is way worse than anything Holland could do to me!
QUESTION 15: Would you rather read only reviews of popular books or only reviews of unknown arcs?
Beth: I think only reviews of popular books. I tend to use my own opinions for unknown ARCs – based on the cover or the blurb – whether I’m going to enjoy or not but for popular books I like to read a variety of reviews, both good and bad, for popular books just because I feel I can sometimes get too blinded by the hype or the famous author if I don’t.
QUESTION 16: Would you rather have a retreat and meet all your blogger friends or keep the friendships strictly online?
Beth: I’d say I’d love to meet everyone in real life, as fun as it is talking to people online and through the comments on WordPress it can’t compare to sitting down with someone and having a real life, back-and-forth conversation you know.
LAST QUESTION: You’ve recently found out your favorite author has lost all of their senses (GOD FORBID) while they’re just starting to write the final book of an epic series that you and many others LOVE (muahahahahahaha).

One night, you wake up hearing their thoughts in your head, asking you to help them finish the story.  As a twist, the only way you can finish the story is if you actually go INTO the fantasy world and live it as the MC.  The story will write itself into their magical journal as you go along the epic adventure (similar to Tom Riddle’s diary in HP2).
Would you rather get up and leave everything behind forever to complete this quest, or would you rather let the story never be published?
Beth: I feel like you left the hardest question for last as well! See the leave everything behind forever part has me a little stumped, as much as I love travelling I love coming back home again and seeing my family, plus there’s less chance of my dying at home as well. However I think when it comes down to it I’d have to say go into the fantasy world and finish the quest. Honestly I don’t think I’d be able to resist the adventure and, well, I’d hope that as the final book in whatever series I was going into I’d survive whatever the author dreamt up! Plus I wouldn’t be able to leave my favourite series unfinished either! 🙂

Whew, That’s it everybody!  Isn’t she a doll?  I hope you thoroughly enjoyed reading Beth’s answers!  Be sure to send some love her way either on her blog or in the comments down below!

I don’t know.

Oh god.

I would absolutely love to have a conversation with SJ Maas

TAG | The Cookie Book Tag

In case you guys didn’t know, I absolutely love baking.  I made some double chocolate chip cookies the other day and I swear it was the most delicious cookie ever.  Anyways, Beth tagged me earlier today and I just couldn’t resist doing this!

The Cookie Book Tag

Rules:

  • In addition to linking back to the person who tagged you, it would be awesome if you link back to Nicole’s original post!
  • Pick a book that corresponds to the cookie’s ‘theme’.
  • Have fun!
  • Tag one to three people.

Chocolate Chip:
A classic book that you love or really enjoyed

Interpret classic how you want, it can be a classic written 100 years ago or 20 years ago.

I’m switching it up and bringing up one of my childhood favorites, Roald Dahl.  Known for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, etc. He wrote some fantastic books.

cWllf.jpg

Thin Mints:
A fandom that you really want to ‘join’ and/or a hyped-up book you want to read

Your source(s) of a book being hyped can be from anywhere.

The fact I’m not on the Percy Jackson train partially makes me ashamed.  I read The Lighting Thief about two years ago and then never picked the next book up. #whatamidoing #readjustpriorities

d8e1f2d5d690d8f8748a.jpg

Shortbread:
An author you can’t get enough of

Seriously everyone knows my answer before I even type it.  SARAH J MAAS 5EVER.  I have read all her work and own it all too.

Samoas/Caramel DeLites:
An emotional rollercoaster

This cookie was hard…so any book that made you feel more than one emotion, strongly. The choice of emotions is up to you.

hZWp4W5aQvGm1WiiGFYIuBUOQ3K.jpg

My emotions felt as hard as the Photoshop in this photo.

Oreos:
A book whose cover was better than the story, or vice versa, where the story was better than the cover

17234658

A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray was such a disappointment to me.  I’m in the minority but I just didn’t like it :(.

Tagalongs/Peanut Butter Patties:
A book that wasn’t what you expected

Good, bad, or just different, interpret how you wish.

23009402

I see so many people talking about Sarah Dessen so I decided to take the plunge and read something by her.  Usually if I dislike a book it’s because the storyline did absolutely nothing for me but the writing is up to par.  In Dessen’s books, I dislike her writing but like the storylines.  Unfortunately, her writing is the reason I didn’t continue reading her books.

Snickerdoodles:
A book you may never stop re-reading/loving

This is a series I know I will continuously fall in love with.  It brings out the dreamer in me and it’s something I very much want to live over and over again.

Bonus:
Choose a cookie I didn’t list and make up a question!

The Hobnob.  A classic english cookie with a delicious chocolate top.

A book you can read while all cozied up.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000040_00007]

Probably one of my all time favorite series (IT’S CONTEMPORARY) (YES I KNOW) (YES, I KNOW) (I’M SHOCKED I READ IT TOO).  It’s just such a good storyline, I absolutely adored Charli and Adam.

My tags:

TAG YOURSELF IF YOU WANNA DO IT! 🙂

TAG | The Book Love Tag

JEEZ I KEEP GOING MIA AND I DON’T KNOW WHY OR HOW IT JUST HAPPENS. I’M SORRY WORDPRESS FRIENDS.  PS: Don’t think I haven’t been reading, I just really didn’t like what I read and went through this epic slump of slumps.  I hated how every book I read was just “sub par” or so redundant.

Anyways, I decided to get back into it I would do a tag called “The Book Love Tag”.  Sound good? Yep.  Inspired by the lovely Calliope the Book Goddess (check her blog out, here).

YOUR FAVORITE BOOK COUPLE

You guys know that one of the last posts I made was based on me epically fangirling over the beautiful creation that was A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas.  If you have yet to read it, think of the Shatter Meromance but on drugs.

I’ll leave it at that, and also this snippet from A Court of Thorns and Roses,

tumblr_inline_o65hmsFkWc1u6rra0_540.jpg

YOUR TOP 3 BOOK BOY/GIRLFRIENDS

I honestly am SO EAGER to see what happens between Dorian and Maven in Empire of Storms.  I kind of ship them in such an excellent way.  I also really love Juliette and Aaron from Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me series.  Also, Will & Tessa from the Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare.

IMAGINE YOUR FAVORITE BOOK COUPLE. WHO WOULD PROPOSE, AND HOW? (IF THERE’S ALREADY BEEN A PROPOSAL: WHO WOULD BE MORE INTO ORGANIZING THE WEDDING?)

I CAN’T GIVE ANYTHING AWAY (SOBS) (RUNS INTO CORNER).  If you’ve read ACOMAF you know EXACTLY what I am thinking of.

UNPOPULAR OPINIONS TIME! NAME A POPULAR PAIRING YOU CAN’T STAND.

It’s not that I couldn’t stand them at the beginning, because I could.  But I became heartbreakingly disenchanted with Tamlin and Feyre by ACOMAF.  It just wasn’t meant to be and it’s so painfully obvious.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE ROMANCE TROPE?

I really hate non-conducive love triangles.  IF the author has the talent to do one and not fuck it up I am the happiest person alive.  However, most authors really just do it because everyone else does it.  And… I hate that.

My favorite romance trope is one where the male recognizes that the female doesn’t need to be saved and just wants to be her equal.  The male understands that women can be strong and independent and they don’t need excessive hand holding.  The key here is that there’s equality in the relationship, proper character development, and trust.

DO YOU SHIP NON-CANON COUPLES OFTEN? NAME SOME IF YOU DO.

Not typically.  I almost always root for the couple the author pushes.

YOUR OPINION ON LOVE TRIANGLES. GO!

Done right? Look at ACOMAF.  Done wrong? Look pretty much everywhere else.

FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE LOVE TRIANGLE?

My favorite is honestly a jumble between anything seen in Maas’s books or Clare’s TID.  However I really hated the Clary/Jace/Simon fuckery.

SOMETIMES ROMANCE JUST ISN’T THE WAY TO GO. FAVORITE FRIENDSHIP?

I do love the friendship between Kenji and Juliette <—- I JUST TWINNED SO HARD WITH CALLIOPE LOL. Kenji&Juliette are the shit, an EXCELLENT example of a friendship in YA.  Another FANTASTIC one is the relationship between Yelena/Janco/Ari in Maria V. Snyder’s Chronicles of Ixia.  If you haven’t read that chronicle you NEED to.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SCENE WITH YOUR BOOKISH OTP?

I think this comes with my age, but anything filthy (the sexual kind) in YA.. bridging it to a NA read.  Seriously there are some STEAMY scenes coming out in fantasy books lately and it’s absolutely brilliant.

IMAGINE YOUR FAVORITE BOOK COUPLE AGAIN. WHO’S MOST EXCITED ABOUT VALENTINE’S DAY (EITHER IRONICALLY OR GENUINELY)?

I absolutely agree with Calliope here.. As Feyre and Rhysand are my top couple right now, I really think that Rhysand would be super excited.

Boop boop, okay that’s it for this tag.  I think I might make an update post on everything I’ve been reading?  I don’t really remember much of it because it was so boring, but I’ll see y’all tomorrow. PROMISE.

Seriously, I promise.  PS. I’m going to Comic Con/Book Con in NYC.

Slumps are for Chumps | Blogger Appreciation!

Happy Monday everybody!  Today’s prompt in Slumps Are For Chumps – Book Blogging Adventure is to spread the love and talk about 10 book bloggers that you love.  Whether it’s their content or personality (maybe both!), it’s time to highlight them.  I think this prompt is my favorite one out of the entire month because it helps spread positivity throughout the blogger world.

So, if you’re tagged, just know that I really admire your blog and if I couldn’t fit you in I wish I could!  I really admire every single person’s blog that I follow.  If you’re tagged and feeling the love, consider making your own version of this.  Not only does it make YOU feel good, it makes others feel good too! :).

I have to stop this post here for now! My WordPress isn’t loading properly on Safari >:/.  I’ll make another version of this post in the future for all you lovelies 🙂

The Mythological Creature Tag!

For my monthly bookish blogging adventure: Slumps are for Chumps (get deets here), one of the prompts in the upcoming week is to do the Mythological Creatures Tag.  Since I haven’t seen one floating around, I decided to make it and publish it early so everyone can get it on time.

Instructions: For each mythological creature, think of a character/creature from a book that shares a similar theme (or fits it perfectly!).  Serpents, automatons, sea monsters, etc – this tag has it all! :).

Note: this isn’t really popping up in Reader, so you might need to go to my blog to see all the pictures + gifs.

The most epic serpent in any book I’ve read was, of course, Nagini in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling.  As Voldemort’s sidekick and one of his many horcruxes,  Nagini wins all the awards.

As an aside, I got into a debate with two people on the best serpent in literature (Nagini vs. the basilisk) and Nagini undoubtedly wins each time.  If you think there’s a better serpent out there leave it in the comments.

I have yet to read an awesome mermaid-themed book.  However, one that incorporated them perfectly was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.  This is my absolute favorite HP book (and movie!) because of how well Rowling tied weird Olympic-like games with mythology and magic.

Okay, okay, okay. TOOTHLESS IS THE BEST DRAGON IN THE HISTORY OF DRAGONS AND I DON’T WANT TO BETRAY HIM.

113436.jpg

But alas, I am going to choose Eragon … from Eragon by Christopher Paolini.  An epic fantasy book that really should be on everyones “Read” shelves.

Screen Shot 2016-03-31 at 10.48.58 PMgiphy9284655

I think one of my most favorite sea monster scene in a book was the huge squid-like (Kraken?) one in the Tiger’s Curse series by Colleen Houck.  It was awesome.  I thought about considering Moby Dick but does that really count? Whales be whales, yo.

100%. HANDS DOWN. FOREVER.  The moment I saw automatons I knew I had to include them.  They were so crazy badass in The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare.  PS. It is so unfair that these new covers are so beautiful! I want them all @_@

For those who have followed my blog for awhile, you know that I have a love for the book Halfway to the Grave.  There’s a super funny scene where a ghost fools around with the one of the characters in a graveyard. It’s prime. :]

Screen Shot 2016-03-31 at 10.41.20 PMtumblr_m9ocdgF5Ra1rr1imao1_500.gif

I was actually in a fierce debate with which book I’ve read had the best spider (I tend to go for the best ;)).  I got tied between Aragog from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J. K. Rowling and Charlotte from Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White.  Two totally different spiders with two totally different plans.

I’m settling on Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments series, because I seriously loved it.  I loved the demons, downworlders, nephilim, angels, all dat.

Although I’m using a Harry Potter still above, I’m going to choose The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis as having some awesome centaurs in it.  I was looking at Goodreads and apparently P. C. Cast has 7 top rated centaur books?  So that’s a thing.

Screen Shot 2016-03-31 at 10.57.12 PMtumblr_lmlvah5nv61qhd14co1_500

You know what I’ve realized? Harry Potter has it all.  However, Tigers Curse by Colleen Houck has a portion devoted to a phoenix because Kishan is a little shit (fact).

Screen Shot 2016-03-31 at 11.00.12 PMtumblr_nto4pfbOsA1uv7bcuo2_500.gif

I’m going to plainly lay it out there: I have not read a good sirens book.  The last two (possibly only two) I read were The Siren by Kiera Cass and Atlantia by Ally Condie. UGH.  Unless I’m missing something, YA authors have not gotten it right.

Slumps are for Chumps | Day One: Tag

Happy April 1st everybody!  If you didn’t know, I made a month-long bookish meme called Slumps are for Chumps | Book Blogging Adventure”, you can find the details here.  Today is the first day so come join!  I think I chose some pretty fun prompts :).  Today’s prompt is to play a really cruel bookish April Fools Joke or to do a Book Blogger Confessions tag.  I chose to do the latter, of course!

You can find the details of this tag here.

Without further ado, let’s get started!

1. Which book, most recently, did you not finish?

22065067

Ooooh, I had to think about it for a second but I read the first few chapters of Sword and Verse by Kathy MacMillan and never really picked it up after that.  I have no idea why but I never gave it a solid chance.  I’ll have to pick it up again.

2. Which book is your guilty pleasure?

6339664

I totally remember making a post a few months back of some of my guilty pleasure books and this one made the list.  I thought this looked better than Fifty Shades of Grey.  😉

3. Which book do you love to hate?

20578940

So I am trying not to shred this book so much but I have neverever, liked anything written by Holly Black.  I totally wish I could, but even Cassandra Clare didn’t redeem this book for me.

4) Which book would you throw into the sea?

16143347.jpg

I’m trying to shuffle around books I talk about, but this was one book I pretty much loathed.  Other books include Spy Glass by Maria V. Snyder, If I Stay by Gayle Foreman, Paper Towns by John Green, and Maze Runner by James Dashner. *hisses*

5) Which book have you read the most?

I have no idea but I know these are in the top 4 of my life.  I’ve read these books (and series!) way too many times to count

6) Which book would you hate to receive as a present?

17383918

That ending tho. *hisses more*

7) Which book could you not live without?

16034235

One of my top books of life, Throne of Glass by SJM is my top series ever.  Right beside my undying love for Harry Potter (of course).

8. Which book made you the angriest?

Everyone and their mothers probably know the book that has made me the absolute angriest.  It’s the Glass series by Maria V. Snyder. I am HISSING for days!  I love the Chronicles of Ixia but I just can’t support a series where the MC  (SPOILER WAS HERE OH GOD I AM SORRY MY FRIENDS)

9) Which book made you cry the most?

Oh gosh the feeeeels.  The feels!  TFIOS by John Green and Tuesdays with Morrie  are in the top rank of “this made me sob uncontrollably”.

10) Which book cover do you hate the most?

I kind of noticed this tag is leaning towards the negative, so I won’t add a book cover I have “hated” the most.  Rather, I shall do a book cover I love.  Aren’t they pretty? n___n

Okay, that’s all! Since this is a tag, I am tagging:

My abuelo gave me a hardcover edition of The Little Prince when I was a small girl.  He passed away my freshman year of college and I never got to give it back to him.  I’m glad I didn’t, it’s the only thing I have of his.

Never doubt my love for SJM. This book will be perfection.

And that’s all!  I’ve been in a big blogging / reading slump.  I won’t tag anyone in this because it’s a St. P’s theme tag, but if you want to do it I TAG YOU 🙂

The Pixar Tag!

It’s day 3 of the Book Blogging Extravaganza and today’s prompt was to do a tag!  Which is perfect because I absolutely love Pixar.
The Pixar Tag was created by Mishma over at Chasing Fairytales and it’s total perfection.  I feel like her GIF choices were part of the tag… so I’m leaving them. :]

Oh GOD! I went through a list (yes seriously) of all the Pixar movies ever made. Why? Because I’m old (23), I’ve seen them all, and my memory isn’t as great as it used to be.  Anyways, it comes down to a tie: Ratatouille (yessss), Finding Nemo (YAAASSS), and Inside Out (I CRIED).

Harry Potter! Guys, its our generations book, how can you not say Harry Potter? I will forever love it.
Okay, since I’m all about being honest and slaying certain fandoms (only on Mondays, I promise, sorry if you like the book).  I’m calling out Holly Black’s The Iron Trials because holy cash cow Batman all I saw was Harry Potter warning bells flashing before my eyes.  If I wanted to read Harry Potter again I will do just that.
OH! oh! OH! I know! GUYS if you’ve read Falling Kingdoms, you are probably riding the same train as me when it comes to Magnus.  Oh Magnus *sighing forever*.  I definitely feel like he’s supposed to be a villain but I just… don’t… I want him and Cleo to be a thing and I want him to become good.  Why can’t it happen? Whyyyyyyy :'(.
One family I absolutely loved in literature? The Bennet sisters from Pride and Prejudice.  I just loved their kindred spirits, love, and dedication.

I have always love Clary Fairchild’s ability to create angelic runes in The Mortal Instruments so I have to go with that

tumblr_mp1z2052041rh7pc9o3_r1_500.gif
Basically all of the Chronicles of Ixia by Maria V. Snyder.  There is so much traveling done that it’s sometimes hard to keep track of it all.  Yelena, Valek, Leif, Janco, etc. are ALWAYS going somewhere days away.
One of them is definitely Alec from The Mortal Instruments.  His character always drew me in and he was a perfect fit for Jace.
tumblr_mklr4fhL821rp92vzo2_500.gif
Indie author Laura Thalassa’s The Queen of All That Dies. Oh my god! If you have not read it GET ON THAT.  I freaking love this series.

So I’m not sure if it’s the most beautiful, but I really loved Celaena and Sam’s love in the Assassin’s Blade.  It just hit home so hard and gave me all the possible feels.  I also really loved Shatter Me‘s Juliette and Aaron love story.  I think it was the poetic writing style Mafi had that really drew me in.
OH 100% AELIN ASHRYVER GALYTHINIUS. DEFINITELY 100%.
Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas, Shatter Me trilogy by Tahereh Mafi, and Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare.  Seriously all the feels EVER!
Tag, you’re it!

Tag | Book Sacrifice Tag!

Happy Sunday!  I was tagged over at The Orang-utan Librarian to do this beautiful tag and now I am WELL ON MY WAY.  Why? Because controversy makes me smile.. a lot. Muahahaha.

  1. An Over-Hyped Book:

Situation: You’re in a store when the zombie apocalypse hits. The military informs everyone that over-hyped books are the zombies only weakness. What book that everyone else says is amazing but you disliked do you start chucking at the zombies?

4374400

I gave this book a solid 1/5 stars. I don’t even think I finished it.

  1. A Sequel:

Situation: torrential downpour. What sequel are you willing to use as an umbrella to protect yourself?

17383918.jpg

UGHHHHH.

THIS BOOK ALWAYS!

I won’t spoil this book if you have yet to read it or if you somehow have managed to not hear the ending of this book.

  1. A Classic:

Situation: You’re in English class and your professor raves about a Classic that “transcends time”. If given the opportunity to travel back in time, which Classic would you try to stop from ever publishing?

84943.jpg

If I could go back in time I would take the manuscript of this book and turn into the Hulk. I would use it to pummel the heads of my enemies and stoke the fires. I would never ever let this become a mandatory school read. I would throw it at my enemies and laugh because I hate it so much. *hissssssssss*

  1. A Least Favorite Book:

Situation: apparently global warming = suddenly frozen wasteland. Your only hope of survival for warmth is to burn a book. Which book will you not regret lighting?

6080889

Those of you who have been with me and my blog for awhile now, know.  You must know. I deplore this “series”, but I love the chronicle that it belongs to.  Does that even make sense? It’s the worst. ANGRY SIGH FOREVER. I think this is my top disliked series in a REALLY long time. #moreangrysigh

That tag was so short! Only 4 situations.  This is a total haterade tag though, so I’m sorry if you love any of these books.

PEACE YALL & HAPPY SUNDAY
