Summing up Sunday: February 29 – March 6

Woohoo first week of March is done and we are this much closer to WARM WEATHER (at least in New York). Eeeeeeek.

This week I read 2.5 books:

I did write reviews for Talon and Soundless, you can find them below.

  1. Review: Talon by Julie Kagawa
  2. Review: Soundless by Richelle Mead

Brief (unhappy) Thoughts on “The Dark Days Club”

  1. It was boring
  2. I was trying to swallow this book for TWO WEEKS and I finally DNF’d it at 106 pages.
  3. Holy shit it was slow
  4. Holy shit this book made me miserable.
  5. Although detailed, there was no hook.  There was no intrigue.  It was meaningless filler after filler.  There was no reason for me to care about the storyline and that’s what led to it’s ultimate demise.
  6. No thank you. No thank you ever.

Currently Reading

I have been blessed by the NetGalley gods (publisher) for an arc of this series!  I heard a lot of praises so I’m checking it out 🙂  I hope to finish it this week!

As you can see, I didn’t really accomplish many bookish things this week.  I was super unhappy that I wasted so much time trying to swallow Alison Goodman’s book.  I wish I loved it like others have!  I was also trying to rush read my library books because I have to take them back by Tuesday and I hadn’t read like 3 of them.

MEH. Anyways, a book haul will be posted tomorrow!  I loved hearing your guys input a couple weeks ago when I posted my first one. :]  Is there anything in particular I should read?  I was thinking of getting Truthwitch and Me Before You but I want some other rec’s.

Summing up Sunday! Feb 15 – 21 (+ Thoughts on Richelle Mead’s new book, & Falling Kingdoms Fan-Ship RANT)

Happy Sunday everybody!  Sorry I’ve been a little MIA this weekend.  I got my new foster dog today!  He’s a chihuahua named Joey, but he’s really sick. :(.  He’s heart worm positive and he might have kennel cough.  I have a feeling a lot of my time is going to be spent trying to help him get better.

This week was devoted to reading some pretty big books. So let’s get started! :]

  1. Endure by Sara Larson (book #3 in the series).
  2. The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima (see my review here!)
  3. Gathering Darkness (Falling Kingdoms #3) by Morgan Rhodes
  4. A sneak peek of The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead

Thoughts so far on the Falling Kingdoms series: Okay guys, so you may have noticed I DID NOT do a review for Gathering Darkness.  My reason is pretty simple: My review would be the exact same as my last review of Rebel Spring.  Honestly?  The these two books are almost exactly the same.  And I want to address the fan favorite Marcus+Cleo shipment: As nice as it may seem, I REALLY don’t think it will ever happen.  Like seriously I almost don’t ship them because any friendly progression they make is so SLIM. Idk guys idk, that ship doesn’t look like it’s going to sail.  They are two stubborn ass characters.

Thoughts on Richelle Mead The Glittering CourtHmmm…. I wasn’t that impressed.  NetGalley has a sneak peek (150 pages) of it and it fell pretty flat.  The main character was really stuck up and annoying (I NEVER call characters annoying).  The “love interest” was honestly sketchy AF and nothing really ever happens until the last 20 pages of the preview.  I don’t think I would buy it, I would wait and get it from a library.

I just started reading:

I really want to read:

It’s just been really nagging me.  I just want to read some sweet, tacky, paranormal romance.  Argh, do you guys have any suggestions?

That’s all bookish thoughts and summaries for now.  Have a good week everyone :]

Summing up Sunday: February 8 – 14

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!  I spent most of the day hanging out with my boyfriend and eating food.  I spilled Pepsi on my white coat though so that’s a pretty bummy thing.  I hope you all had an awesome, loving day!

This week I read 4 books:

  1. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi – review here!
  2. Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge – review here
  3. Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi – review!
  4. Haven by Kristi Cook

I really had a slow reading week.  I was working super hard hours trying to get my work done before our trip to Philly for the SJM/Dennard book signing.  Unfortunately, the weather screwed us over and we ended up not going.  Talk about disappointing!

TV Shows

GUYSSSSS guess what premiered this week?  Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How To Get Away With Murder.  also started to watch Outlander and I kind of really enjoy it.  I won’t lie,  I actually stopped watching Scandal and HTGAWM because I didn’t like the direction they were going in, but I was too lazy to get up and change the channel after Grey’s so I ended up watching them.  #runonsentence.

I keep ending up one episode behind on Shadowhunters but I have to admit I really enjoy the adaptation and will keep watching it :).

Valentine’s Week

Ahh, I’m so sad it’s over!  I kind of got tired on all the shipping I was doing (it gets redundant after awhile).  Here’s all the posts I did:

  1. Shopping Guide for the Book Lover
  2. Top Ten Tuesday: Ultimate Couples Moments In YA Lit  (my favorite post I did!)
  3. Stunning Book Covers I Love
  4. The Classics Book Tag – don’t classics just scream romance?
  5. Book Love Tag

Summing up Sunday! Feb 1-7

Whew guys, sorry I’ve been so MIA this week.  I decided to dump the books that I was “currently reading” and actually read something I wanted to enjoy.

Thus, I read 5 books!

Andddd they were all by Laura Thalassa (hahaha… I HAVE NO SHAME!).  I read the whole The Unearthly series by her and it was exactly what I needed.  I actually just made a general swoop of a review (you can check it out here).  At first it’s a fun light read and then The Damned happens and you literally go on an emotional ROLLERCOASTER OF DEATH AND DESTRUCTION.

Ah!!! It was so good guys.  If you’re in a slump I really recommend this series.

TV series and other little thangs

So this week I did a whole season 2 marathon of Chasing Life.  It was so dark but addictively good.  I really loved the cast of that series, it’s such a shame it was cancelled without a proper ending! Grrr.  If you want to watch it it’s all available on Netflix.

I also caught up on Shadowhunters and Jane the Virgin.  JTV is so hilarious guys, I love the telenovela themes.

Also, have you seen Schitt’s Creek?  I believe it airs on CBC.  The cast and writing are HILARIOUS! Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy make me laugh so much.  It’s currently on Amazon Prime, but I think you can find it elsewhere online.

I’ll leave you with that glorious one liner video.  Hope you guys had a successful and perfect week!  I’m hoping to do a Valentine’s theme thing this upcoming week because I am a hard romantic and I love V-day. n_n.

Summing up Sunday: Jan 18-24 (exciting news!!!!)

Wooooo! It’s Sunday! It’s also super cold and I really, really, don’t want to go outside.

Last week my plan was to read The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey (WHICH I DID HOLLA), and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (which I didn’t, totally forgot).

This is a complete list of what I read this week:

  1. These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner (review here!)
  2. The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen (review here!)
  3. Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes (review hereeee)
  4. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey (LAST REVIEW, whew, here)
  5. The Storyspinner by Becky Wallace (I said that I finished it last week, but I didn’t.  I read the last 30 pages two nights ago n_n).

So I had a pretty busy week reading.  I’m planning on going to see the 5th wave movie with le boyfriend (he doesn’t know yet.. unless he’s reading this…).

My plan for this week is to read:

IT’S RELEASE WEEK FOR Night Study by Maria V Snyder and I am SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!! I’m literally squealing reading the synopsis.  She’s doing a book signing in Lancaster PA (5 hours away) and I SO want to go.

  1. Reread Shadow Study by Maria V Snyder tonight/tomorrow so I’m all refreshed on what happened.
  2. Buy Night Study by Maria V Snyder on release day and INHALE.
  3. Read Rebel Spring by Morgan Rhodes
  4. Read Illuminae by Amie Kaufman (it’s 599 pages…

Whew, that’s it guys.  I can’t even finish expressing how pumped I am for Night Study, the cliffhanger ruined me in Shadow Study.  I do have some ARC’s waiting for me on Net Galley so hopefully I can fit those in too.  Is there anything you’re planning on reading this week?

As an aside, I’ve been working from home the past few days so I don’t have to go out in the cold.. I’m trying to save up my money for braces but my stupid student loans are swallowing up everything I’m earning. Sigh. :/.

ON A POSITIVE NOTE: I bought a Happy planner and am currently designing planner stickers!  It’s so fun to do, I just need to find some sticker paper and it’s game over.

I also need to figure out how to do some things on WordPress because I (kinda) hate my layout.  I have no idea how to do certain things and it’s killing my soul piece by piece D:

Summing up Sunday (Jan 11-17).

So it’s the end of the week and I didn’t really accomplish much.  I was finishing up my month long vacation in sunny Colombia and it took a lot out of me… From packing and saying bye to extended family, to traveling a whole day (!), and to getting back into the groove of real life.. It’s been a lot!

I’m also trying to find more book blogs to follow, it’s surprisingly hard to find other blogs and I just want to discover new blogs and bookish things!  I’ve already met some incredibly sweet people (you know who you are! n_n).

ANYWAYS, without further ado, here’s the bookish-related things I’ve done this week.

I read three books: The Queen of All That Dies by Laura Thalassa (read my review here!), The Queen of Traitors by Laura Thalassa (I’ll write a review when I remember to breathe), and The Storyspinner by Becky Wallace (I’m actually almost done this book).

I started watching two new book-related shows: Shadowhunters and The Shannara Chronicles.  I just finished watching episode 4 of Shannara and WOW! It’s awesome.

My plan for this upcoming week is to read:

The 5th Wave is actually coming out (or it is out?) in theaters and I want to jump on this bandwagon before I go see the movie.  As for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, I’ve had the physical book just sitting beside my bed for months and I want to read it.  Coincidentally, a movie for this is also coming out soon (I believe it’s February 5th.).

Any who, not a very productive week in terms of reading but it’s been so busy!  Can’t wait to read your guys’ summaries. n_n.  Let me know if there’s a book I should read this week because I kind of hate planning out books to read and I usually don’t end up reading them.. x_x.
